Looking for new members
I run the photo club here in North Bay and we are always looking for new members and people to meet. If anyone would be interested in joining our club send me an email. We are easy going and fun to hang out with. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional shooter or are just starting out. All are welcome to join!
We had our last club meet until the new year yesterday. It was great to see a few of the club members come out to brave the cold. We will be starting up meetings and shoots again in January. I would love to see some new faces in the new year. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

Unfortunately, I am not a photographer, but I do admire the artists who are able to capture beautiful images.
I am looking for photographers who would be interested in volunteering their time to help the Canadian Cancer Society put together a calendar for 2015 with regards to the people, and events in the North Bay & Area district. This calendar will be a fundraising event. If you or anyone in the club are interested, please let me know. I found the North Bay Photo Club on Facebook and was wondering if anyone in the group would be interested in sport photography?
We are hosting the 3rd annual Run Off-the-Grid trail run in Mattawa on September 29, 2012. The event offers a 12 km, 25 km, 37 km, and 50 km race category, with a hike option for the 12 km and 25 km distances. We are going to be applying for funding to promote a Mattawa Endurance Series, which will promote the 4 endurance events in the Mattawa area (trail run, bike race, canoe race and snowshoe race). We would like to have professional photos of the event and scenery for this purpose and to promote the race in general. The scenery and view are absolutely stunning at this time of year as well.
Here is some additional information about the event.
The Run Off-the-Grid is promoted as “the race with the smallest footprint” and there are a number of green initiatives in place to help reduce the carbon footprint of this event and to build awareness of environmental sustainability. We hope that the Run Off-the-Grid will become a model of best practices for coordinating a green event.
The Run Off-the-Grid also supports the following:
– Local food bank – we feel it is important to give back to our local community and $5 from each registration is donated to our local Mattawa Food Bank
– Carbon offset credits – to minimize the environmental impact of this event, carbon offset credits are purchased to offset the emissions associated with participant travel to/from this event. Please check out the website for a complete list of green initiatives specific to the Run Off-the-Grid.
– The vision of Nature’s Harmony – remaining profits from this event are invested back into Nature’s Harmony to further our vision of connecting people with nature and the great outdoors while demonstrating sustainable living practices and instilling an enthusiasm towards greater sustainability through experiential learning and youth programming.
Nature’s Harmony was asked to speak at the 2012 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference to talk about the Run Off-the-Grid and how sport tourism can contribute to the economic development and sustainability of the Mattawa Voyageur Country region. Nature’s Harmony was also recently selected as a finalist in the Sustainable Tourism category of the Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence. The awards are being presented on October 23, 2012.

Hi Brian, this is the lady you met outside at the Motherhouse a few months back, you were looking for the G.B. Heron. Just wondering if it would be unusual to see a Golden Eagle on Lake Nipissing cause I swear I watched one today for at least an hour near Kinsman Beach. Neither Seagulls, Crows or Ravens, and even an Osprey tried to kick him off of his perch, all to no avail. What a wing span.
I haven’t seen any golden eagles in the area. It was probably a juvenile Bald Eagle. There are lots in the area and look a bit similar
